"I love you too"
One of my biggest desires while I am here, is to make sure each of these children feel loved. It is very overwhelming at times because all of them are so desparate for my attention...and all at the same time. My arms are so tired by the end of the day after picking them up one by one. But there are always at least 3 children at my feet all the time holding their arms up at me and smiling and begging me to hold them. They are all wanting to feel loved and I am trying my best to make sure I give it to them. I tell them I love them a lot, but most of the time they just smile at me and have no idea what I am saying because of the language barrier. But today I was holding a little girl, (who by the way can do a mean booty shake which is adorable!), and I told her I love her. She looked at me and said "I love you too!" It made me so happy that she could understand me and I was so excited! I said "enkosi" which means "thank you" in their language, and she said back to me in english "thank you very much. I love you too! I love you too!" Then it was followed by a bunch of kisses on my face and a tackled hug around my neck. It made me so happy :)
