Orientation

Today started at 10:00 AM with breakfast and orientation. I'm surprisingly not suffering too bad from the time change or jet lag so that's great! We went over all the rules of the program and had discussions about all our expectations. It was great to get to know the group better and to hear everyone's backgrounds and why they are here in South Africa. They split us into four groups and gave us each different destinations nearby to see if we could find them then find our way back. Don't worry mom, they gave us maps and directions. Our destination was about a 15 minute walk to the nearest shopping centers. It's called Roundabush and you can find anything you need there. It was kind of scary walking around, but I felt mostly safe with my group and following the rules that we were taught earlier that day. Once we got back, the cooks had made us a great barbaque on a "real fire". They think its funny that we use grills in the U.S. It was a beautiful, sunny, and warm day here in Cape Town (which is unusual at this time of year because we are supposed to be starting winter!). It was so nice sit in the sun and eat out in our yard. It's beautiful here!
The Barbeque! There were TONS of meats that I couldnt' even recognize...I went with the chicken. And no those are not mashed potatoes. Not too bad though!

In the front yard eating lunch.

On the walk to Roundabush. Its so pretty everywhere!
