Rainy day in the Cape

It's winter here and supposed to be rainy all the time. We've been way lucky to have such good weather since we've been here...but the rain has finally come. Because of the rain and wind, all of the kids had to be squeezed into one small room today. The bigger room only has gates and no doors, and several of the pieces of the roof were torn off from the weather so water was just pouring in. It was pretty crazy today because of that, but fun nonetheless of course! I taught them a new song we did in the preschool I was in for one of my classes at college, and they loved it! They were singing and doing the dance for it all day. I also cut out tons of shapes and helped them do a little project with them today. I could only work with about 8 at a time though because they only have one glue stick. It was pretty rough teaching them how to share it, but by the last group of kids, I got it down how to teach them through charades what they had to do and how to share! They were SO excited to get to make these pictures and you could see the pride in their faces once they glued something down successfully. It's so sad to me that they don't get to do even simple things like this on a regular basis. They just don't have the resources, and the staff doesn't seem to take the time. We hung up everyones pictures on the wall and it looks great.

This afternoon a bunch of us went to the Green Market. This is where tons of locals have little shops for people to buy souveniors. It was awesome to see all of their cool things they've made! After exploring for a few hours, we came bought some chocolate ice cream and I was in heaven! It was my first taste of chocolate since I've been here! :) Then we had our lovely dinner at the home base...every meal has the same flavors and today it was just all blended into a soup. I definately can't wait for some American or homemade food when I get back! Yesterday I ate lamb without knowing it...hmmm
